Samuhik Sarvapitri Shraddh / Tarpan Vidhi

In Hinduism, it is believed that the soul of the dead ancestors of a family residing in the Pitru Lok i.e a realm between the heaven and the earth visits earth at the time of Shraddh Paksha or Pitra Paksha. The ceremonies and Tarpan performed at this time for their peace is known as Shraddh.

Sarvapitri Shraddh on Sunday, September 29, is intended for all ancestors, irrespective of the lunar day they died. It is the most important day of the Pitru Paksha. Current generation repays their debt to the ancestors in the Pitru Paksha through food offerings & Anna Daan.

According to Vedic scriptures, during Shraddha Paksh, It is a tradition to donate Daan, Annadaan and Dakshina to temple and the priest in the memory of our ancestors.Thus, it is believed that whatever we donate in the name of our ancestors is received by them also.

Please bring a nice photograph of your ancestors with love and respect. Puja samagri for the Tarpan Vidhi will be provided by temple.
