Shravani Upakarma Vidhi
(Yognopavit Dharan / Janoi Change)

Upakarma is conducted once a year during the Dhanistha naksatra of the Hindu calendar month Savana, when Brahmins ritually change their upanayana (Janoi) thread accompanied by relevant rituals. The sacred thread is held in the hands and the Gayatri mantra is uttered. Then with prayers and spiritual emotion it is adorned. Then the old sacred thread is discarded.
This day is also called Sravana Purnima "Full Moon of Sravana"
